Lotsa Heart Values

Animal Welfare

Ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of all the animals in our care is what motivates us. We will always provide personalized care that meets the needs of each individual animal so they can thrive.

Not only do we treat our animals with the utmost respect, but the voices of our community and staff as well. We foster a supportive, safe, inclusive environment that encourages growth and happiness.

For our sanctuary to overcome challenges, deliver impact and thrive, we will create an atmosphere that encourages collective action, innovation, and mutual respect.

We will always put the animals first. Our decisions will be founded research, facts, data, and experts in our field. We live the principles that we expect others to meet and always act with integrity, accountability and transparency.

“Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them. Today, I will choose courage over comfort.”

Our Story

Lotsa Heart Animal Sanctuary is the result of a life-long labor of love for all the animals that have touched the hearts and improved the lives of so many. From caring for personal pets, to having a career in animal care, to volunteering at wildlife and farm sanctuaries – our founder’s life has always been dedicated to helping all of nature’s furry, feathery, and scaly friends.

Prior to forming LHAS, we had already rescued about 20 animals over the years, but our influence was limited by the size of our property, our income, or local regulations and ordinances. So, we decided to take a leap of faith and uproot everything to find a perfect place to pursue our dream of rescuing more animals in need.

In 2022, with the support and encouragement from loved ones and people in our community, we formed this charitable, non-profit, 501c3 animal sanctuary in hopes of increasing the impact we can have.

Mission Statement

Here at Lotsa Heart Animal Sanctuary, compassionate care for ALL animals is the cornerstone of our mission. Our rescue animals come in all shapes and sizes, from companion animals such as cats, to farm animals, including pot belly pigs, donkeys, and mules.

Our goal is to ensure that these animals get the best care available-for a lifetime. We want to provide them with a loving, forever home where they can be happy, healthy, and safe. We aim to treat each animal that comes into our care with the patience, love, and respect that they deserve, so they can enjoy a lifetime of good health and know how much they are valued and loved. We aim to offer state-of-the-art care, promote regular preventative care for our animals, and an enjoyable, positive atmosphere for both pets and people.

Most of the animals in our care came to us from overcrowded shelters, oftentimes from situations of abandonment, abuse, or neglect. Many have been mishandled in the past or not handled at all.

We are committed to ensuring that every animal receives the utmost care, including veterinary care, proper shelter, appropriate diet, and an enriched environment.

Our animal rehabilitation rescue shelter and sanctuary where we board the animals is situated on a nearly 20-acre farm in Aiken, South Carolina. The size of our property allows us the opportunity to offer a safe haven for domestic and farm animals with the long-term expansion goal to also become a sanctuary for local wildlife.

We’re just getting started, but plan to be a long standing pillar of the community that will be able to offer jobs, volunteer opportunities, internships, youth learning programs and even scholarship opportunities.

Thank you for being a part of our journey and please reach out if you are interested in helping impact the lives of animals in need.
